As a kid of five years old on my grand father farm in Waco Kentucky. I met many cowboys, that moved from the west to the northern industrial states to get work. They would send the money, they made back home to help their family.

I remember, this older cowboy from New Mexico was herding my grand father cattle’s into the large corals near the the large pond east of the barn and horse corals.

I was sitting on the fence, near the large gate, watching. This older cowboy came riding up and started talking to me about, what I wanted for Christmas. He told me about his father, grand father fighting in the civil war and coming home around Christmas, to fixed up his small ranch for his family in New Mexico. That when I hear for the first time, “A Cowboy Christmas Prayer.”

So, here is what I remember, as I lay it down to music, what this older cowboy told me that day December 20th, 1941.

“Merry Christmas and I wish the good Lord above will gives all you nice people and your family, the love and understanding of this world we live in. So, we can live our life free of the virus, and the hatred, that some people are causing in our Nation.”
